Fighting Giants

1 Samuel 17:40 (NIV), "Then he took his staff in his hand, chose five smooth stones from the stream, put them in the pouch of his shepherd's bag and, with his sling in his hand, approached the Philistine."

We know the story well.  David defeats Goliath with nothing but faith in God and a simple,  common stone.  It wasn't with a fancy, impressive array of state-of-the-art weapons.  But, with a simple, common stone...found in the valley by the brook.

We face "giants" of our own sometimes.  We can defeat them by having faith in God Almighty and using common, simple means.   It doesn't take a big fanfare...but  faith and "a common, simple stone".  Most of the time, the answer is simply right in front of us and we are looking up past it.  David found the stones by the brook.  Which means he had to look down and get on his knees to get them.  God, always provides for His children.  And, He always makes a way of escape during difficult times.

God, help us to have faith in You and be willing to look down and get on our knees to find the "simple, common stone" to fight our giants.
