This week, both my kids started school. It has been quite an adjustment. The house seems SO quite during the day. And, I will admit that I miss that and miss hearing them play during the day. but, one thing that I have focused on this week is getting myself "back on track". Not just in a spiritual sense, but in organizing and staying organized. And I will admit this is the BEST I have felt in a long time. It has actually been SO refreshing.
So, this morning I got up and dropped the kids off to school and came home to have my "me" time. When I checked my emails I read this verse that was sent to me by a good friend of mine. Isaiah 58:8, "Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily; and thy righteousness shall go before thee, the glory of the Lord shall be thy rereward." This was like a confirmation to me that if I stay on track, this promise is for me and my family. The New Living Translation says it this way, "If you do these things, your salvation will come like the dawn. Yes, your healing will come quickly. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind." What encouragement!
Have your ever been out at dawn and saw the sky as the sun begins to peek out? The display of colors can be breath taking. The beauty of it all makes you think of how much God must enjoying painting the every morning. Just as that light breaks through the darkness every morning, our salvation will help break through those dark times in our life and help us to shine beautifully and brightly once more!
When you plant a seed, it takes time and nurturing for it grow and sprout up. But when you see those fresh new leaves begin to poke through the soil it makes all that time worth while. Our healing is much the same way. Sometimes God chooses to heal immediately and other times he chooses to wait. That time of waiting can be difficult to go through some times. But, when we begin to see the evidence of HIS hand on our situation, it makes the wait worth while.
In this life, we can not rely on our own ways to get us through each day. We must have a DAILY time of prayer and reading the Word. That time taken each will lead us down the path of righteousness and godliness. And, our righteousness and godliness will go before us and open doors to be a light and witness to those around us.
When we dedicate our lives to Him, His glory will gather around us and follow behind us. Have you ever walked into a prayer room after someone has has a good prayer meeting? The evidence of His glory and presence can be felt. When we determine to draw close to Him daily, His glory will follow us and make a difference where ever we go.
This is my desire! To make a difference in the lives around me. Not only in lives of my family, but in the life of the lady at the grocery store I see every time I go grocery shopping...in the life of the mail clerk I see at the Post office...in the lives of the teachers at the school. We are to be a light to this world. We can not be that light if the flame is dim and almost extinguished. It must fueled with prayer, the Word and His glory! That is the ONLY way to burn brightly.
