Chains Gone & Set Free For Service!

"O Lord, truly I am thy servant, I am thy servant, and the son of thine handmaid; thou hast loosed my bonds." Psalms 116:16

I like what The Message translation says..."Oh, God, here I am, your servant, your faithful servant: set me free for your service!"  A servant is one who serves.  To serve is to wait on, be fitting or proper and have a certain purpose.  I also found it interesting that some synonyms for serve are:  answer, content and satisfy.  John 8:36 says that when He sets us free, we are free indeed.  Or like The Messages translation says we are free through and through.  We are set free for service.  Set free to wait on Him...Set free to be fitting and proper in all areas of our lives...set free for a certain purpose...set free to answer His call for our lives...set free to be content in any situation...set free to be satisfied being His servant.

A song came to mind by Tim & Lana Chandler..."It's hats off, thumbs up.  He's come through with another mighty touch.  Chains gone, set free.  And another weary soul has finally found relief.  From the weight of sin.  Mercy entered in.  Nothing like before, Christ the risen Lord.  He turned the key, chains gone, set free". I am SO thankful that He turned that key to loose the chains and set us free for service!

My prayer is: Lord help me, teach me to be a better servant...to be fitting and proper...to answer when you call...to be content...to be satisfied...and give me a clear vision of the certain purpose you have for my live.  I am your servant, use me to the best of my ability.
