I love my kids dearly. They often come up with the cutest little antics and sayings. The other day I caught my son eating the toothpaste! He said it tastes good...the plus side it that now he doesn't give me so much trouble brushing his teeth...but EATING it?! YUCK! This morning he got really quiet. When called out to him to come here, he came running saying "Mommy look, I did my hair". It was "spooky up" as he calls it. But when I looked closer I also saw it was blue...guess what he used for hair gel...yep, you guessed it - TOOTHPASTE! Of course, I always tease Jack that these antics of his son are his fault. But I guess if I think about it, I AM the one who prayed for a little boy that was just like his Daddy. If I am having THIS much fun now, just think of what the teenage years are going to be like!
My daughter has become the "little momma" around the house. Often times I will ask my son to do something and she comes right behind me and tells him the exact thing. Which irritates him to pieces. She loves to clean everything but he own room and she loves to redecorate my living room. But her latest thing this morning was she set up a "mini bathroom" within their bathroom for her little bear. Daddy bought her this little bear when he was recently gone out of town for work. It has rarely left her side since he gave it to her. But back to the "mini bathroom". It is complete with a tub, shower, sink, toilet & wipes"! Needless to say, she has quite an imagination.
Looking back on my own childhood, I remember making doll houses out of cardboard boxes...using laundry baskets as ships out on a sea...using chairs to hold up my makeshift tents made out of my mom's bedsheets. It is amazing how things are different now-a-days compared to when I was a kid. Yet in some ways things are much the same now as they were then. Using an imagination is something that will never change. My kids make things out of boxes or whatever they can find...they have used my laundry basket as a ship, a car or even to hide in...and when I put the chairs in the living room to sweep and mop the kitchen/dining room floors, the chairs become a bus full of people (stuffed animals) on their way to some adventure.
I thank God for my kids. Yes they may argue and fuss like any other siblings, and sometimes they need their own space. But there is something special about hearing them play together using their imaginations and going on adventures. Yes, I am definitely thankful for the little boy and the little girl God has placed in my life.
