Ephesians 4:1-3 says, "I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord(Paul), beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace".
We have all been called to live a holy and righteous life. Now whether we all answer that calling is the choice we have to make and live with. But6 as it says in Joshua 24:15..."As for me and my house we will serve the Lord". I really would not have it any other way. In Ephesians 4:1 the Apostle Paul says "I beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith you are called". Here he is encouraging us to make our way down the path of righteousness, living our lives in a suitable manner as we were called to do. 1 Peter 1:15 says, "but as He which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation". We should strive to be like Him who has called us to live a holy and righteous lifestyle.
How do we do this? As it says in Ephesians 4:2...by learning to be humble , meek and longsuffering (which means: not having or showing any feelings of superiority, self-assertiveness, or showiness and accepting pains or hardships calmly or without complaint) . But, an important part of Ephesians 4:2 is..."forbearing one another in love". In the New Living Translation it says, "making allowance for each other's faults because of your love". In the New American Standard Bible it says, "showing tolerance for one another in love". And in the Message Translation it says , "And mark that you do this with humility and discipline - not in fits and starts, but steadily, pouring yourselves out for each other in acts of love". It is about making allowance, showing tolerance and steadily pouring ourselves out in acts of unconditional love. In doing these things we are endeavouring to keep unity in the Spirit binding it together with peace.
My prayer today is..."Lord help me to be all that I need to be for you today. Teach me to be humble, meek and longsuffering. Help me to make allowance, show tolerance and pour myself out to others in acts of unconditional love".
