Family Day Of Fun

This past Saturday (10/13) we went to an Open House at a local Fire Department. The fun started at 11am and we left somewhere around 3pm. Lunch was provided free of charge. The had demonstrations, free information materials and a tour of the Fire Department. The kids had a blast. I told them that it was a field trip for home school. This week we will review all the informational material we picked up and learn about fire safety. It was a fun Family Day for us all.

This first picture to the left is one of Kalynn and Jackson standing by the Med-Helicopter after it had re-landed after a demonstration of saving someone from a car and airlifting them to the hospital. Here are some more pictures...

Jackson putting a pretend fire out. At first, he would not watch where he was aiming because the water sprayed back into his face. But, he eventually got the hang of it.

Next is one of Kalynn and Jackson sitting in the hovercraft before it was taken out into the water for a demonstration of saving someone who has fallen into the lake/river.

Then, here is one of Kalynn and Jackson listening to a firefighter describe all the clothing and gear he has to have on before he can fight a fire.

Before we left, they got to tour the firemen's quarter and watch the fireman slide down the pole...watch some firemen repel down a wall...watch a demonstration of how easily a Christmas tree can catch fire...and go through a demonstration house filled with smoke and crawl out a window. It was all a great learning experience for the kids. And as for Mommy & Daddy, just seeing the kids excitement and having fun learning was worth taking time out of our busy schedules.
