Hungry For Spiritual Things? He'll Fill It!

Have you ever seen baby birds when they get hungry? They open their little beaks wide and wait for Mama or Daddy bird to feed them. I read that analogy on a website after reading the following verse this morning: "I am the Lord thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it." Psalms 81:10. I think that is the best description to give for someone who hungers for a closer walk with God.

I once heard the phrase "If you will, God will". If we begin to seek His face, study His Word, pray and fast, He will fill that spiritual hunger in our lives. In Matthew 5:6, Jesus said in His sermon on the Mount, "Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled". It is a promise that when we seek integrity, virtue, purity of life, rightness, correctness of thinking, feeling, and acting - we SHALL be filled.

No matter what the circumstance...He desires to fill our spiritual hunger. All we have to do is open up our mouth and ask. In Matthew 7:7-8, it says, "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened".

The ultimate goal should be to reverberate (reflect) Him. To do so, we must have a hunger for spiritual things...to have a fervency in our spirit to serve Him to the best of our ability. May He implant a hunger in our hearts so that He can fill us...we then will be an awesome testimony of His providence. And, it will bring glory, honor and praise to Him.
