He Ran To Choose Me?!

Remember as a kid when you and your friends would gather together to play a game of softball, basketball or kickball? When it came time to choose up sides, it always felt good to be picked out of the crowd and not left out. In 2 Chronicles 16:9a it says, "For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to shew himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him". He looks over the earth to choose those whose hearts are upright and faithful toward Him. Here are a couple of other verses to reassure us that we have been chosen by God Almighty. In Isaiah 41:9, it says, "I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, 'You are my servant'; I have chosen you and have not rejected you" And in 1Peter 2:9, it says, "But you are a people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light". What a wonderful thing it is to realize that God hand-picked you and I to be used for HIS glory.

As I was studying 2 Chronicles 16:9, I noticed it said that the eyes of the Lord run. If you look up 1 Peter 5:8, it says that our adversary the devil, as roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour. In His infinite wisdom, God eyes are continually running over the earth watching over each one of us. Now we all know that running is faster than walking! It sound like God still has one up on the devil! While the devil is walking about like a roaring lion, God is running...healing someone in Africa, delivering someone else in New York, filling another with the Holy Ghost in Russia...all the while the devil is still just walking. It doesn't matter where you are in this world. God is watching over you and is running to meet your needs!

I am so thankful that long ago when He was on that cross, He looked ahead in time and thought of you and I. It was then that he knew He had special plans for each of us. Plans to prosper us and not harm us, plans to give us hope and a future (Jer. 29:11). I look forward to the future I have in Jesus!

Here is a song to tie up my thoughts for now: When He Was On The Cross, I was On His Mind by Ronnie Hinson and Mike Payne.

I'm not on a ego trip, I'm nothing on my own
I make mistakes and sometimes slip
Just common flesh and bone
But I'll prove someday just why I say
I'm of a special kind
For when He was on the cross
I was on His mind

A look of love was on His face
The thorns were upon His head
The blood was on that scarlet robe
And stained it crimson red
Though His eyes were on the crowd that day
He looked ahead in time
For when He was on the cross
I was one His mind

He knew me, yet He loved me
He whose glory makes the Heaven's shine
So unworthy, of such mercy
For when He was on the cross
I was on His mind
For when He was on the cross
I was on His mind
