Dud Or Dude?!

My 4-year-old son asked me the other day the definitions of dud and dude. A cute question for a little guy to ask...to him it was an important question. Of course I could have went into the Merriam-Dictionary defintion and said..."a dud is someone that is a failure and a dude is someone who is excellent". But then I would have to deal with the questions...what does failure and excellent mean? So to sum it up I told him that "a dud is someone who is not cool and a dude is someone who is cool". Well, on the way home from church last night my kids were singing their own 'made-up' songs, as usual. And, Jackson started out loud and proud..."the devil is a dud and Jesus is a dude". There is one scripture that came to mind..."Out of the mouth of babes".
In Psalm 148:13 says that "His name alone is excellent". How true that is. His name is superiorand unsurpassed! Often times when my kids wake up from a nightmare or are scared for one reason or another I remind them that the Word of God says that at the name of Jesus EVERY knee shall bow. Just speaking His name catches the attention of every living thing. The devils believe that there is one God and they tremble. They know His name and they flee at the sound of it. My kids love to hear that...They say that when you tell the devil to go away in Jesus name, Jesus comes and ties the devil up and sends him running. I feel so priviledged to teach my children these things. These are principles that they will use many times over in the days, months and years to come. And they will always know that the best friend they have in the world is Jesus, the King of kings.
So, I think I can definately agree with my kids...the devil is a dud and JESUS is a dude!
