Matthew 5:13-16 says, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men. Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."
I may be in this world, but this is not my home. Like the old song says, "This world is not my home I'm just a passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue; The angels beckon me from heaven's open door. And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. O Lord, you know I have no friend like you. If heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do." So, until the Lord calls me home, it is my responsibility as a Child of God to be a light and show forth the love that He has imparted to me. If I loose my cheerful and fervent spirit, I will not be very effective in reaching and making a difference in the lives around me. I would be like salt that has lost its savour.
Yesterday, Pastor Hargrove preached on the natural influences on our lives. The first one he touched on was the Spirit of God. He mentioned that if there was ever a time that we needed to live and walk in the Spirit of God, it is NOW. I guess that message came to mind when I read the quote this morning by Sadhu Sundar Singh and the scripture in Matthew 5. As salt in this world, I need to live and walk in the Spirit of God so that I can let my light shine. Which in turn makes a difference in the lives around me so that they can glorify God also.
Today I am feeling refreshed after some good services on Sunday. As if my life as been reseasoned or resalted with the Spirit of God and His love. May I be pliable clay in the hands of God so that He can use me to make a difference in someones life this week!
