A Panoply?!

Every so often I get on the Merriam-Webster Website to read the word of the day. I have come across so interesting words I never knew existed! Words like balneology(the science of the therapeutic use of baths) or diablerie (mischievous conduct or manner). I think diablerie would be a good word to describe my kids sometimes. They are 90% angel and 10%....diablerie. "Normal" people probably do not use these words on an everyday basis. But sometimes words like these can get me to thinking. Like the word panoply (pronounced \PAN-uh-plee\).

Panoply is noun. It means 1: a full suit of armor, 2: something forming a protective covering or 3: a magnificent or impressive array. If you think about it, as children of God, we have been supplied with a panoply, a magnificient array of armour that withstand any battle if it is cared for properly.

Ephesians 6:10-18
10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: 18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

The armour of God should be put on every morning. An American Soldier would not even think of going to the frontlines of the battle without the proper gear and weapons. As children of God, we need to be prepared and ready for battle at all times. So staying prayed up keeps your armour in a magnificient state. It keeps it shining so that it may reflect The Light into the eyes of the enemy.

So, did you put on your panoply today? It is easy to lapse into busy mode and not take the time to put it on...but it is important for us to remember to put it on daily.
