The Two Roads In Life–Which One Do You Choose?

Psalm 1 (KJV), “1  Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.  2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.  3  And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither ; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.  4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.”

There are two roads in life for us to choose from.  The road of the godly, and the road of the ungodly.  There is no middle road.  There is no riding the fence.  There is no standing with one foot on one road and another foot on the other road.  You choose either to travel one or the other.

Blessed in verse 1 is a state of happiness and being spiritually pure and virtuous. To get to that point, the godly must not listen to the advice of the ungodly. They must not live the life of the ungodly. They also must not stand, endure or remain in the path the sinners take. Nor they must not dwell, remain or abide in the seat or dwelling place of the scornful (disrespectful, prideful, hateful or belittling). BUT, the godly will be content and rejoice in the direction and instruction of the Lord. And they will study, think about and follow the Word of God both day & night. And the godly will be like trees planted by the water. They will flourish and grow and produce healthy fruit. And, whatever they do, they will prosper.

But the ungodly are not so. They are like chaff (useless or discarded material) that is carried away by the wind. They will not be able to arise and maintain themselves under the judgment of God. They are unfit company and their sins will be exposed in the presence of the righteous.

God knows the path that the godly & righteous take. He charts their journey and orders their steps. But the path of the ungodly shall be destroyed and vanish. They will be lost and stray farther away.

I don't know about you, but I want to make sure that I take the path of the godly! My prayer today is that the Lord helps be to continue on the paths of righteousness. That He continues to put a love in my heart for His Word...even when it corrects me. I want to be like a tree planted by the rivers of water!
