"Rest & comfort comes when the house is furnished fully." I heard this yesterday and it got me to thinking a little bit. When something is furnished, it is "provided with what is needed or is equipped with furniture". And, furniture is "equipment that is necessary, useful, or desirable". (According to the Merriam-Webster.) So, I think that it would be safe to say that rest and comfort comes when a house is equipped with everything that is needed, useful and desirable.
And, that thought brings me to a couple scriptures. Psalm 127:1a, "If the LORD doesn't build a house, the work of its builders is useless." And, 1 Corinthians 6:19, "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" My body is a place that houses that Spirit of God. And, If I do not follow the house plans that God has for me, my house will not be sturdy enough to withstand the storms of life.
So, I need to make sure that I furnish my house with things that are necessary, useful and desirable. Which makes me think of Philippians 4:8, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Also, if we have a foundation of wisdom and beams of faith and trust, our house will be able to withstand any storm that comes our way.
My prayer today is that the Lord helps me to have a fully furnished house. ♥
