1 Corinthians 14:3 (MSG), "But when you proclaim his truth in everyday speech, you're letting others in on the truth so that they can grow and be strong and experience his presence with you." The King James Version says, "But he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort."
- The word 'prophesieth' is translated to means "to speak forth by divine inspirations; like prompting, to teach, refute, reprove, admonish, comfort others."
- Edification translates "to build up; the act of one who promotes another's growth in Christian wisdom, piety, happiness, holiness".
- Exhortation means "encouragement, consolation, comfort, solace".
- And, comfort means "to give strength and hope to someone; to ease the grief or trouble someone is experiencing".
When I think of the truths of God, I think of many things. But one scripture comes to mind. 2 Timothy 3:16-17, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works." The Word of God shows us truths, opens our eyes to our own rebellion, corrects our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word of God, we are put together and shaped up for the tasks He has for each or us.
I always want to maintain an attitude that is willing to allow the Word of God to show me truths, open my eyes to the things I am doing against His Word, to correct my mistakes and train me for the tasks ahead. Doing this will allow me to be able to proclaim those truths so that I can build others up, encourage them, give them strength and hope. That is my desire that I can make a difference in the lives of others by edifying, encouraging, and building others. That is why I created this blog several years ago...so that I could share the inspiration God gives me from time to time. I was reminded of this once again when our Pastor read 1 Corinthians 14:3 on Sunday.
~Lord, put me together and shape me for the tasks ahead. I know that I am not perfect and that I have areas that need improvement. Help me to remain pliable in your hands. Continue to inspire me to edify, encourage and build those around me. I thank you for this day. I thank you for the many blessing that I have and for the blessings you have in store for me. In JESUS name, Amen - So be it!
