Mark 10:46-52, “And they came to Jericho: and as he went out of Jericho with his disciples and a great number of people, blind Bartimaeus, the son of Timaeus, sat by the highway side begging. And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, [thou] Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, [Thou] Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And he, casting away his garment, rose, and came to Jesus. And Jesus answered and said unto him, what wilt thou that I should do unto thee? The blind man said unto him, Lord, that I might receive my sight. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”
Have you ever felt like you are blindly walking around, trying to find your "niche" in the Kingdom of God ? I know that I have at times. But, I believe that God has a plan for each of our lives, including my own.
I know that there will be times that I will need cry out to Him for direction. The phrase "cry out" in this verse means to cry out loud, to utter loudly or to cry out like a raven. A raven's cry is like a hoarse croaking sound. A croaking sound is like a deep hoarse throaty sound. My cry will need to come from deep within me. It may be a cry of desperation for a need of direction. But I know when He hears my cry, He will stand still and listen and call out to me to come to Him.
There will also be times that I will need to cast away my garments of depression, disillusion and distraction. When I do this, I can come to Him without the heaviness of these "garments" weighing me down. And in their place, I can put on garments of praise. This means that I will allow a praising attitude cover me and clothe me.
And, after I take the step of faith to cry out to Him and cast off the unneeded garments, then I will need to communicate to Him what I need, asking Him to allow me to seeing the path clearly. And, it is reassuring to know that with His illuminating power, He will answer and light the path He has for me.
I know that my direction comes directly from God Almighty when I cry out to Him. When I follow His leading and keep company with Him, He will give me the desires of heart. (Psalm 37:4) He will lead me down the path before me.
So, I do not need to blindly wander around wondering where I need to be. If I cry out to Him, cast off the unneeded garments, and go to Him, He will show me the way. And if I set it in my heart that I will follow His leading down the path before me, He will give me the strength and courage I need along the way.
Jesus, lead me and give me the strength and courage along this path before me. Each day I pray that You help me to being pleasing in Your sight in all manner of life, conduct and attitudes. I give you all the glory, honor and praise for all the blessing in my life. You are a great & might God. Thank you for standing still to hear my cries and call out to me. Help me to be a blessing to someone today and shine brightly for you!
