Words & Thoughts...

In Psalm 19:14 says, "Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer ."  I read this verse this afternoon to my children when we were talking about the importance of watching what we say and think.  And, the importance of  how we act when someone says something untrue and unkind to us.  As, children of God, it is our responsibility to show love to one another.  And, if we have unkind thoughts that enter our mind (heart), those words will come out of our mouth and then not only hurt others but hurt our reputation.

Proverbs 3:1-6, the Message translation, says, "Good friend, don't forget all I've taught you; take to heart my commands. They'll help you live a long, long time, a long life lived full and well. Don't lose your grip on Love and Loyalty. Tie them around your neck; carve their initials on your heart. Earn a reputation for living well in God's eyes and the eyes of the people.  Trust God from the bottom of your heart; don't try to figure out everything on your own. Listen for God's voice in everything you do, everywhere you go; he's the one who will keep you on track."

The Word of God is there to teach us, convict us, restore us to an upright state and training and educated us in doing what is right.  We need to take it to heart.  Don't lose our grip on the importance of love and loyalty.  We need to live our life in such a way that is pleasing to God.  And, trust in Him form the bottom of our hearts.  Trying to figure things out on our own just makes the situation more frustrating.  If we learn to listen for God's voice to guide us in everything that we do and everywhere we go, He will keep us on the right track.

Lord, help us to let the words of our mouth and the thoughts in our heart be pleasing to you.  For, you are our strength and redeemer.   Help us to say and do what is right and to forgive those that may hurt us with their words or deeds.  Help us to continually show love to those around us just as you, our example, did.  Thank you for another day to serve you and to give you the glory, honor and praise for the great and mighty things you have done.
