His Great Love...

John 15:9-10 "As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love."

We are to continue is His love.  The Message translation says that we are to make ourselves at home in His love.  In other words, we can make ourselves comfortable and at ease in His love.  Ephesians 2:4 says He loves us with a great love.  He loves us with a incredible, proficient, and huge love.   We can feel comfortable in His great love because it provides contentment, rest, satisfaction and peace.

We are to preserve and be a keeper of His commandments.  A commandment is a principle intended especially as a general guide for conduct or action.  We are to guard those principles.  Observe those principles.  And, treasure them or commit them to memory.  Like it says in Psalm 119:11, "Thy Word have I hid in my heart that I might not sin against you."  If we are a keeper of those principles, we will guard, observe and treasure them so that it will keep our hearts pure and free from sin.

When we keep His commandments, we will abide in His love.  We will continue to remain and survive in His great love.  We can stay there and in doing so, remain alive and active spiritually.

Then we will be well on our way of following after His example for us.  He lived His life as an example to us.

My desire is to be like Him.  Like the old song says:
To be like Jesus,
To be like Jesus.
On earth I long to be like Him.
All through life's journey
From earth to Glory,
I only ask to be like Him.
