As I was studying this morning, this verse came to my mind: Malachi 3:6a (KJV), "For I am the LORD, I change not." The American Standard Version says, "For I, Jehovah, change not." Which in turn reminds me of Hebrews 13:8, "Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." What an awesome thought! Jesus Christ...the anointed one...Jehovah wrapped in flesh...came to be our salvation! In Acts 4:12 it is speaking of Jesus when it says, "Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved ."
Just was does salvation mean? According to the Greek Lexicon, salvation is, "1) deliverance, preservation, safety, salvation, 2) deliverance from the molestation of enemies, 3) in an ethical sense, that which concludes to the souls safety or salvation, 4) future salvation, the sum of benefits and blessings which the Christians, redeemed from all earthly ills, will enjoy after the visible return of Christ from heaven in the consummated and eternal kingdom of God." Salvation is more than just Acts 2:38 ( Repent , and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.). It is being freed from the power and effects of sin. It is assurance of the blessings He has in store for us not only while we are here on this earth, but also when we arrive at our eternal destination.
I am so glad for the saving power of Jesus. He delivers, preserves, protects and saves. What an AWESOME God I serve! ♥
I am reminded of a song written by Geron Davis...
Prince of Life and the Prince of Peace
Lily of the Valley, Bright and Morning Star
The great Creator, Lord of everything.
What He is will never change,
What He is will never change.
He is Truth and truth remains.
What He is will never change.
Closer than a brother, So kind and true
A friend who’s there when other friends have gone.
Provider for His children, Defender of His own
A mighty Tower, A Fortress great and strong.
