Pastor preached last night about not being "average". To be average means to be between extremes. you know, so many times we get stuck in a rut. Just an average person living an average life. How about trying to have a beyond average day when it comes to our walk with God.
Revelation 3:15-16 (KJV) says, "I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth." Have you ever drank lukewarm water? It can be almost nauseating to the point that you want to spit it back out. Our walk with God can be viewed in the same way. Being either "hot or cold" in our walk with God is better than being "lukewarm". When someone is a "fake" it can be disheartening. Of course, God would rather us be "hot" than cold.
God would rather us desire to have a heart like His...to desire to walk uprightly...to desire to possess good fruit in our lives. But, not everyone chooses that path. But as for me...I want to beyond just an average Christian. We serve an extraordinary or beyond average God. And the being that He is extraordinary...the plan He has for each of our lives is extraordinary. In Ephesians 3:10 (MSG) it says, "Through Christians like yourselves gathered in churches, this extraordinary plan of God is becoming known and talked about even among the angels!" Now would you like to be a "fly on the wall" in heaven to hear the angels talking..."Did you hear how her day went? She had situations come along that could have easily brought her down. But, she began to call out to Jesus. Of course, Jesus answered right on time. And WOW you should have heard the sweet music her praises made when He answered her prayers."
2 Thessalonians 1:11 (MSG) says, "Because we know that this extraordinary day is just ahead, we pray for you all the time - pray that our God will make you fit for what he's called you to be, pray that he'll fill your good ideas and acts of faith with his own energy so that it all amounts to something." May this be my prayer for today. Lord, help me to fit into what you have called me to be...to fit into the beyond average plan you have for my life. Help me to make a difference in the lives around me.
