1 John 3:1-2 (KJV) says, "Behold what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."
When I read a scripture, I often like to look it up in "The Message" translation. It can put the verse into more modern terms and usually can be very thought provoking. It says, "What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it - we're called children of God! That's who we really are. But that's also why the world doesn't recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he's up to. But friends, that's exactly who we are: children of God. And that's only the beginning. Who knows how we'll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we'll see him - and in seeing him, become like him."
The love He has for us is not just and ordinary love. It is extraordinary...it is miraculous...it is exceeds the natural. We are called HIS children. What a priviledge! There may be some people that do not understand nor comprehend our Christian lifestyle. But, they have not read, heard or seen the insight we have in all the blessings and promises He has for His children. What we have experienced in our walk with God is just the beginning of ALL that He has for us. And as He begins to open our eyes and reveal things to us, we will see Him in a different light. The word see means to discover, understand, recognize or examine. The more time we take to discover who He is...the more initative we take to understand His purpose for our live...the more we recognize His greatness in our lives and in the things around us...and the more we examine and apply His word to our lives, the more we will become more like Him in the way we conduct ourselves. As a Christian, that should be our ultimate goal, to become more like Him.
