Praising Him because I am HIS child!

I received this verse in my email this morning and thought that I would "expound" on it. My thought here may be short, but just thinking of how privileged I am to be called and hand-picked by God Almighty to be his "spiritual royal princess" is exciting. He has a plan for each of our lives. Sometimes it seems that it may not be going fast enough for us or maybe not even in the right direction we think it needs to be going...BUT He knows what is best for our lives and He makes ALL things beautiful in HIS time.

"But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people: that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light." I Peter 2:9

We are a chosen generation, hand-picked by God Almighty. Hand-picked to be salt and light to this world. To season it with His message.

We become royalty, children of the Kings of kings. (Or like my kids say, we are spiritual royal princesses and princes). If you read about royal families, you will read that they are expected to act, speak and dress in a manner that is "worthy" of the name they possess. As children of the King of kings, we should act, speak and dress accordingly.

We make up a holy nation. Dedicated to living a godly and holy life as He did. Showing a dedication to Him and living a life of virtue.

We are a peculiar people. Peculiar in this verse doesn't translate as "odd or different" like we may think. But, peculiar in this verse is translated as "preserving". We preserve, maintain, guard and protect ourselves. How? By prayer, fasting, reading/studying the Word and applying the Armor of God daily.

These four characteristics of a true Christian all work together so that we may bring glory, honor and praise to Him. Not only because of who He is. But, because He has called us out of the darkness and into His marvelous light. He has illuminated our lives, our thinking and our vision so that we can go and illuminate the lives of others. Making a difference in our world!

That is just another thing to thank him and praise Him for...calling us and hand-picking us to be used for HIS glory. Oh, what a privilege it is to be a child of the KING!
