Merry (belated) Christmas!

I had every intention of post this greeting in time...before Christmas Day, not the day after. But alas my holiday was crazier than normal. I found out last week that my dad and brother had decided to come in for Christmas. Which was exciting. Not only did we all get to spend Thanksgiving together...Christmas too! But to start off my Holiday, Friday afternoon I broke out in a severe case of hives! By Saturday morning it was really bad. So, went the doctor and got a steroid shot and a prescription for Zyrtec for a few weeks. I came to the conclusion that I am allergic to pomegranate. Of courase I found that out after I had drank several cups of green tea with cranberry and pomegranate. But, thankfully by Monday evening when everyone arrived, I was doing much better. With my Dad coming in it came in handy because we had no one to "play Santa" this year. Every year one of the family members plays Santa at the big family Christmas get together for the kids. He hands out one present for each child and then some of the adults. This year my Dad played Santa...suit and all! Just as he came in the back door (we do not have a chimney)...the kids all sat down in front of him as he sat in the chair. Then my son giggles and pipes up, "Grandpa that's you!"

I already knew one gift we were getting for Christmas from my Dad & Brother...a new computer. My Dad used to custom build computers when I was growing up. Well, this year my 14 year-old brother built one for us. It is twice as fast as our old, dying computer and over twice as much hard drive space. Plus, A couple of weeks ago, our all-in-one printer gave up the ghost. But, "Santa" brought us a new Epson Stylus CX400 All-in-one printer. Wow! I must have been a real good girl this year!

Also, Jack bought me some clothes and a pair of boots! I have been wanting a pair of boots for a long time. I wore them from the time I opened them until the time I went to bed late last night. Plus I received a couple more Cast Iron cookware pieces to add to my growing set of pots and pans. I really enjoy cooking with cast iron. They clean up a lot easier than my other pans and they cook the food more evenly. Oh, I can't forget to mention that we had fireworks last night...in the kitchen...out of the back of the microwave. As first I was thinking "Oh, great. Now we have to buy a new microwave.". But then my Dad says, at least it didn't happen two days ago. SO, I rearranged my thinking...I am thankful it decided to expire after my house full of guests left.

The kids had the opportunity to open gifts three times! Monday evening for the big family get together, Christmas morning from us, Grandpa, Nana & Uncle Jared and then Christmas afternoon from Mimi, Papa, Aunt Brit and the cousins. Between Christmas and recent Birthdays, my kids have plenty of toys to last until this time next year. They received a lot of educational type toys this year. And, this year Daddy bought them real digital cameras! (They only hold about 25-100 pictures) But, It didn't take them long to start taking pictures of everything they could.

It was a nice Christmas this year. We definitely are very blessed. I hope each of you have a great Christmas also. Above all, I am thankful for the opportunity to know the true meaning of Christmas. Among the hustle and bustle of the season, people argue on whether it we should say "Happy Holidays" or "Merry Christmas"...the make sure the make a list of all the things the want...in some home, the presents under the tree far out weigh the thanks they give ti Him for the opportunity to buy those presents. Yes, sometimes Christmas can become too commercialized. That is why it is important to remember the REASON for this season. I am thankful that God robed himself in flesh and dwelt among us. I often think of what it must have been like for Mary to teach Jesus, God, to walk, talk and write his ABC's. What an awesome responsibility. He grew to be man, teaching and preaching holiness and righteousness where ever he went. Like today, some listened and some half-listen and some just turned away. But still He loves, He forgives and He reaches out to all with great compassion. This Christmas, as with ones past, I have so many things to be thankful for...a loving, caring husband, two beautiful kids and a nice home...I never have to do without, for HE supplies our every need and then some...I have a loving extended family...and I am blessed with many friends. In closing of this post I want to say...Thank you JESUS for a great year and I look forward to the many blessings you have in store for our family in 2008!
