Change My Heart O God!

Psalm 51:10, a well know verse that many of us have quoted, sang and even prayed. "Create in me a clean heart O God; and renew a right spirit within me". Many times I have used this verse in my morning prayer time. Starting the day out with prayer can make a huge difference. But what would happen if I applied this verse as it is translated?

The word heart in this verse is translated from the Hebrew as "mind, knowledge, thinking, reflection, memory". Can you imagine how our lives would be changed daily if we applied this verse to our lives? Asking God to create clean/pure thinking in our mind...Asking Him to create a clean/pure reflection of Him in our lives...Asking Him to help us to remember the clean/pure memories and not dwell on the bad memories in our past...asking Him to create clean/pure knowledge/information in our mind and shun knowledge/information that could harm us spiritually (for example - gossip. That is knowledge/information we can do without). O, how our lives would be changed.

A song that comes to mind is:
Change my heart O, God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O, God
May I be like You

You are the potter
I am the clay
Mold me and make me
This is What I pray

Change My heart O, God
Make it ever true
Change my heart O, God
May I be like you

He is the potter and we are the clay. May we be willing to allow Him to mold us and make us into something beautiful and useful for His glory. Changing us in our thinking, reflection, memories and knowledge.
