Hebrews 10:24-25, "And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching". This verse came to my mind to day when I thought of a conversation I had recently with a friend of mine. We were discussing how important it is for our churches to have opportunities for the various age groups. Youth, ladies meetings, men's meetings, etc. I firmly believe that these are just as important as the Sunday services and mid-week services. Our Pastor said something once that has stuck with me: "If the devil can destroy the family, he has destroy the church". Not only is it important for us to spend quality time with our families but with our spiritual family also. It is all about creating an atmosphere of unity. And there is something about when the youth, ladies and men can become unified.
Our youth face obstacles in school and with their peers that I did have to worry about when I was that age. The pressure to be accepted by their peers is tremendous. Which put a big burden on the youth pastors in our churches. That is why I get so excited when I hear of youth groups who have their own prayer meetings, services and outings. It builds a bond of unity that can help ignite the power of God in our services. On the flip side, I am saddened when I hear of youth groups that are dwindling and dissipating. It brings me to tears. I believe it is the responsiblity of the adults in the church to encourage our youth, be an example to them and to exhort (strongly urge) them to unite in prayer and become stronger in these last days.
Our ladies in our churches need each other. Whether she is a single mother, work-outside-the-home mother, single, or grandmother...ladies need to take time out to minister to each others spiritual needs. Whether it is once month or once a week, the ladies need to unite together in these last days. I once heard a preacher say that when ladies began to pray and unite together, God uses them in ways that he cannot use men. Ladies naturally have a way of being more sensitive in some areas. That is just the way God created them. Personally, I am so thankful for the opportunities that our church has for our ladies.
Our men need time spent together. Those men that work in a secular job atmosphere need Godly men that they can relate to. And when men unite God can use them in great and mighty ways. Just as the ladies need time to themselves, a man needs those times also. And when the men in the church can unite, it not only builds up the families individually in the church but it build the church up stronger. Ephesians 5:23 says, "For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body". Now, I do not believe that this means the man is a dictator of the family. But, it means that God has place him over the family to lead them in the right direction. That is a big responsibility. And the ladies of the church need to support their husbands by encouraging them to be all that God wants them to be. And, to pray for their husbands daily.
It is in my heart to be ALL that I can be for God. And the only way that I can be that is to be sensitive to Him and to stay prayed up. If for no other reason, to exhort (urge strongly) to my family the importance of living for God. Jesus repeatedly said to love one another as He loved others. And if you love someone, I believe that you will do what you have to get them on the right path. It may take getting on your face and praying your guts out on their behalf. But it will be worth it when you see them restored and blessed.
