Freezing - But That's Okay!

It is freezing cold in my home lately, but you will not hear me complaining! Last summer our air conditioner struggled to keep up and at best it would be 78 degrees during the hottest part of the day. But, it was usually pushing 81-82. It would run all day long to try and cool the house down. We would have to turn the thermostat down to 65 at night to try to cool it down enough so it would be cool inside for at least part of the day. My kids sat in front of fans to play during the hottest part of the day to help stay cool. And, let's not even start talking about how high the electric bill was! Well, this last weekend we were blessed to be able to put in a new and bigger a/c unit. It has been wonderful! Sunday after church I was cooking in the kitchen and the house still stayed cool. The a/c even kicked off during the day! I wake up in the morning and feel like shouting...Thank you, Jesus for the new a/c unit. Getting a new a/c unit was another one of our blessings in disguise. As the saying goes, God works in mysterious ways. In Isaiah 55:9, the Lord says, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts". We may never completely understand why He works out things as He does, but He knows what it best for our lives. And, He timing is always perfect!

The kids have had Vacation Bible School this week from 10am - 3pm. They have one more day tomorrow, then they have a family fun night on Friday. The VBS leaders have been focusing a lot on teaching the kids that their prayers can make a difference. Which I have talked to my kids often about praying. But, I have noticed that they have been anxious to pray even more. I love to see my kids SO excited about living for God. Of course, as they are having fun at VBS, I have been enjoying my "me time". Of course some of my "me time" has been cleaning the house, but I do not get time without the kids too often. Tomorrow, my mother-in-law and I are having a day out. I am looking forward to it. Jack said we should go get manicures/pedicures or something like that. Whatever we do, I am sure we will have a good time.

You know you hear "horror" stories about in-law's, but when God blessed me with Jack, He blessed me with the best in-law's in the world. They are like true parents to me. I feel my kids are blessed to have their grandparent close by to love on them. Both my grandpas have passed away and my grandmas live quite a drive from here (one in El Paso, Texas and one in Hobart, Indiana and my step-grandma lives in Valley City, North Dakota). And the closest one I was attached to passed away in1980 (my Grandpa Campbell). And, I know that I have said this many times before, but I am saying it again...I feel SO blessed. Yeah, I may have good days and some not-so-good days, but overall I am thankful for the many blessings God has given to me. From the can of corn in my pantry (that reminds me I have been blessed with food for my family) to the cold freezing air conditioning in my home...I truly am very BLESSED!
