Yet Another Day Of Adventuring!

We had a "gully washer" last night! Well, actually I think the wind (up to 90mph in Terrell) made it look a whole lot worse. Supposedly, a tornado touched down in Lavon (above 15-20 miles from us). But the kids and I were determined we were going to church anyways. We got in the truck and headed out. I think I got a mile down the road and it started to rain heavier and the winds picked up. I could not see a thing past 20-30 feet in front of the truck! Kalynn got scared (she doesn't like storms) and Jackson started saying, "Just pray Mommy - just pray". Needless to say, we turned around and went home. I did not want to risk having an accident in the truck. When we got home, Jackson said, in his preacher-type voice and arms waving, "God, stop this storm in Jesus name". It was quite cute. It is times like these that you realize whether or not the principles you are trying to instill in your children are sticking in their little minds. I have heard it said that what a child learns before the age of 5 will help form their thought patterns for the rest of their lives. My prayer is that I can be the best Mother for my children...raising them to live righteously and blossom into a great man and a great woman of God.
Today my kids have dentist appointments. Just annual checkups. But, Kalynn has a tooth that is loose, her first one! Now remember she is my drama child (I wonder where she gets THAT from?). She is a little worried that when it falls out it will fall backwards into her mouth...or that it will fall out in her sleep and she'll swallow it. She is even afraid that if she eats anything she will "mess it up". She is usually a little more afraid about new things than Jackson is...He takes things head-on. I mean lets face it, he is my child that climbs the shelves in the pantry to get the fruit snacks or granola bars down! Put I am reassuring her that everything will be fine and that the dentist will take good care of her teeth.
Live is full of adventures...taking the kids to the dentist without my husband (he usually goes with me to their doctors appointments) is one them. I am sure I will have another "cute kid story" to tell by the time we get back. But for now...I need to go so that I can prepare my kids for the adventure trip to the dentist.
