Snow in April...In Texas?!

Snowstorm
The forecast for Dallas/Fort Worth area says there is a 60% chance of snow showers this evening! My father-in-law joked that we might get snowed in...in Texas? Yeah, right!

When I woke up this morning it was 37 degrees outside...oh and 62 in the house. A little while later, as I was on my way to The Home Depot to get a mini blind for my newly repainted dining room, I passed one of the city workers mowing. He had insulated overalls on plus gloves and a ski hat. Being from North Dakota (where it they invented cold) it struck me kind of funny to see someone so bundled up here in Texas in April. I pondered that thought as I continued my drive to The Home Depot. Then, I noticed it was "snowing"! Not a lot, but a flake here and there every so often. I was reminded of my talk I had with the Lord the other day. I was feeling kind of down...I was missing my "home away from home". May be it is the slower pace life seemed to take there or may be it was just the memories I recall. But I was definitely missing North Dakota. I remember I said, "Lord, sometimes I miss it so much!". So, today I think that the Lord created this weather here in Texas just for me! At least I would like to think so. Why not? The Word says that with God ALL things are possible.

So, as I adjust to these temperatures today (Let's face it, it has been a while since I have experienced "real" cold weather.), I am thankful that the Lord thought of me today. Just the thought that I missed my "home away from home" so much that he brought a little of it here for me reminds me of how important I am to Him.

Matthew 10:29-31 (NIV) says, "Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows." I am more important than many sparrows! So, with a thankful heart (and a few shivers here and there) I will say...Thank you Lord for this colder weather and for the few snow flakes you sent just for me!
Thanks for the snow!
