My 4 year old son has allergies. Every for the past few years, we have gotten used to Claritin or Benadryl at least for about half the year. His allergies have not been too bad this year, until late this afternoon. We were visiting Grandma Patsy when he came up to me to say that his eyes hurt. When I turned and looked at him I realized it was more than just watering eyes. He had cat hair all over his shirt and face. And, his poor little face was red and he began to break out in little bumps around his mouth. I had noticed that he had been playing with the cat but he had not had a reaction before. By the time we got out to the car and on our way home (which was just a matter of minutes) his face was covered in bumps and his eyes were swollen. My 6 year old daughter got this very concerned look on her face and said, "Mommy, I am worried about him...He don't look too good!" Once we got home we gave him Benadryl, got him in the bath and within a half hour he was looking alot better. During this whole fiasco, my daughter pipped up, "Mommy does this mean we can not get a cat?". We had been discussing possibly getting a kitten. I am glad we had not now. So, for now I guess the only pets this family will looking into buying is fish.
Oh, and as we were driving home it began to rain again! I could get used to soggy weather for a while. At least long enough to get us out of stage 3 water restrictions. But, I could do without the tornado weather. Like this last weekend...the level F1 tornado (or some are saying high winds...) that touched down in River Chase Housing Division in Wylie. We have some friends, The Conkle's, that is took up their fence in the back yard. Thank the Lord no one was hurt. I have never seen or been in a tornado. Now when my hubby was a child, one hit their trailer while he was at school. His mom and little sister were in it at the time. I have seen pictures of their home afterwards...it was in pieces and twisted like someone wringing out a rag. So, I could do without the tornado weather...but one good thing about it, is that it gets me to praying REAL hard when it that season.
And, to end this day, I just would like to say how thankful I am to God for the family and friends he has blessed me with. Last night my father-in-law watched my kids (since my hubby is out of town) while I went to WOW Ladies Meeting. I had such a GREAT time. It just reminded me of how blessed I am...and above all else, how priviledged I am to be a child of God.
I guess the song that would sum it all up would be..."I just wanted to tell you I'm thankful for all that you have done. For the stars and moonlight, and the setting sun. And when my life on earth is through I'm going home to be with you. Just wanted to tell you I'm thankful that's all"
