The old hymn says,
"Have thine own way, Lord. Have
thine own way. Thou art the Potter, I am
the clay. mold me and make me after Thy will,
while I am waiting, yielded and still."
We've heard it sung many times.
But, how many times have you or I actually stopped and listened to the
lyrics? And, how often have we been
willing to yield to His way of doing things?
I am sure that many would admit that there have been times that "my
way of doing things" seems to make so much more sense. But, one thing we must always remember is
that He sees the bigger picture. Think
of it this way, each day is like a puzzle piece. We can either allow Him to help us put it in
the correct spot or we can struggle and search for that spot by doing things
are own way. Being He already knows what
the "big picture" of our life looks like, in reality, it makes more
sense to yield to His way. In Isaiah
55:9, God says, "For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my
ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts."
To yield means to
cease resistance; obey or surrender.
James 4:7-8, "Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you. Draw nigh to
God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify
your hearts, ye double minded."
~ Quit resisting and running from
what God is calling us to do. Obey His
Word. And, surrender our will to
His. Draw closer to Him through prayer,
reading/studying the Word and worship.
Quit riding the fence…completely commit to Him.
To be still means to
be free from distress or disturbance; relax; stop the noise or speech. Psalm 46:10, "Be still , and know that I
am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."
~ Get into the Word and pray daily.
Fill the day with music that glorified Him. Learn to stop and relax by having your mind
focus on Him…it brings peace. Stop the
noise… stop talking long enough to listen to what He is trying to say. He will use whomever and whatever He needs
to, to get our attention.
If we yield to God, it
WILL show in our lives. And there are so
many benefits and blessing involved when we yield to His will for our
lives. It is definitely worth the
process you have to go through to get aligned with His will. God isn't going to conform to our comfort
zone! We need to conform or yield to HIS
will and nature by stepping out of our comfort zone.
