A Renewed Mind

~ Just a little thought that God gave me this morning: Ephesians 4:23-24 (KJV), "And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." I like how the New Living Translation puts it, "Instead, there must be a spiritual renewal of your thoughts and attitudes. You must display a new nature because you are a new person, created in God's likeness -- righteous, holy, and true." 

~ Our thoughts and attitudes must be spiritually renewed and transformed DAILY. David, the man after God's own heart, wrote these words: "Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." (Psalm 51:10) Our ultimate goal should be to be holy as HE is holy in everything that we do (1 Peter 1:15-16). To do so, we have to daily keep our thoughts and attitudes in check. You've heard the adage "An idle mind is the devil's playground"? An idle mind will produce thoughts and attitudes that are unproductive, unnecessary and fruitless. We need to strive to have fruitful and productive lives; making a difference and letting out light shine for Jesus. 

~ A good scripture to commit to memory and to pray is Philippians 4:8, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." The Message translation says, "Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious - the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse."
