I just love it when God confirms something He has been talking to me about. I have been reading Proverbs about wisdom and understanding. This morning, our Pastor started teaching a series titled "Wisdom's Storehouse". It is based out of the book of Proverbs. Today's lesson was titled "Discovering the Storehouse". I am really looking forward to the series.
Our Pastor brought out some interesting points. Proverbs was written as an instruction manual for the pursuit of wisdom. You know I have always considered the Word of God my instruction manual. But, for the pursuit of wisdom, I can read and study Proverbs. And, wisdom gives preparation. It brings correction. It teaches us perception. It teaches discretion. Wisdom should be a part of our everyday life. It is awesome to think that God has a storehouse of wisdom for those who seek for it. He also pointed out that understanding takes an effort. Gaining wisdom is to be accomplished without an effort on our part. It takes a willingness to obey and a willingness to study His Word to find the answers He has provided. Proverbs 1:7 says, "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom". Wisdom is built on a foundation of fearing the Lord. "Fear" is a term that means more than respect but less than terror. It is an awe of who He is and what He is able to do.
I am SO thankful for the Word of God! I want to glean as much knowledge as I can from it. ♥
