Stained Glass Window...

"Stained glass windows sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within."  - Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

When I read this quote in a book I was reading, two scripture came to my mind.  Matthew 5:16, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven."  And, Micah 7:8, "Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy : when I fall , I shall arise ; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me."

My attitude from day to day needs to maintain an inner glow.  I need my light to shine so that other can see the great and beautiful things that God has done & is doing.  And, during those times that I feel like I am sitting in darkness and obscurity, I need to let the Lord be my light and my salvation.

You know, our world today is so caught up in how things appear on the outside...Having the latest style in clothes, shoes and hairstyles.  But, as I have gotten older, I have found myself caring less about that and focusing more on what is on the inside...in my heart.  Now, I still believe that a Woman of God needs to dress appropriately, classy and modest...but not overdone.  I laugh at myself sometimes when I look in my closet.  My shoes consist of black, white and brown.  Now I have a few colored shoes, but I am a stickler when it comes to buying shoes.  I hate to pay over $15 for a pair of shoes!  And, my clothes are usually bought off the extreme sale rack. And, I would love to get back into making my clothes.  But, I believe that it how God wants me to be...spending my money wisely.  But I said all that to point out that dressing nice and godly is good.  BUT, what matters the most is the light from within.  I told my son that other day, a woman can look absolutely beautiful on the outside, but if her heart is not right with God she is not the woman for him.  I guess it kind of bounces right back to the scripture I eluded to the other day...1 Peter 3:4 (NIRV), "Instead, your beauty comes from inside you. It is the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. Beauty like that doesn't fade away. God places great value on it."

My desire and prayer is to have my heart and mind in tune with God and the plan HE has for me.  I want my light within to shine forth and show HIS goodness and awesomeness.♥
