Proverbs 23:23 (KJV), "Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding."
The Hebrew Lexicon defines trust as follows: "firmness, faithfulness, truth, sureness, reliability, stability, continuance". The truth of God's Word helps us to stand firm. It is faithful to lead and guide us in any situation. It is factual and trustworthy. It is purposeful and free from doubt. It is reliable, tried and true. It creates stability in our lives. It has timeless factuality that will last forever and ever.
The verse says we should buy truth and sell it not. To me, that means that you should get it no matter what the cost and not let go of it. I hold it dear to me heart. There is nothing in this world that can be traded for the truth of God and His Word. It is much too valuable to me.
Also, in the process of getting truth, we should get wisdom, instruction and understanding. Wisdom is the ability to understanding inner qualities or relationships. Instruction is the knowledge passed to another through discipline, chastening and/or correction. Understanding is the ability to learn, deal with problems and to discern what actions are needed.
Like I said in a post the other day, the Lord has keeps bringing to the forefront of my mind, "get wisdom & understanding". In the world now-a-days, these are attributes that are so important. I want to continue to hold truth close to my heart. I want wisdom and understanding to be prevalent in my life. I even want the instruction (discipline, chastening and/or correction), because without that I would not know what things I needed to change to be what He wants me to be.
Thank you, Jesus, for your Word and for everything that it stands for in my life! ♥
