Just some random thoughts...
Isaiah 45:3 (KJV) says, “And I will give thee the treasures of darkness, and
hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the LORD, which
call thee by thy name, am the God of Israel.”
Treasures of darkness. The preposition “of” has many different meanings.
But let’s consider the definition “occurring in”. A treasure is something that
is of great value or an asset that brings praise. In this verse, the Lord says that He has the power to give us treasures during the dark and obscure times.
Hidden riches of secret places. There will be times that those treasures may be hidden in secret until the appointed time.
Why does he do this? To show us that He is an almighty. all-powerful God that knows & calls us by name. He knows everything about us. He know every little last detail about our thoughts, feelings and desires. We may be able to pull the wool over human eyes, but we can't not do that with God. He knows us too well.
Think of it this way. You see, the world will hand you a package that looks beautiful on the outside. The wrapping and bow are perfectly placed and exquisite. But, on the inside is something that is far less desirable. But, God may hand you a package that may not look perfect to us...but the treasure that is hidden inside is something that will bring so much more happiness to our heart.
Sometimes we are faced with less than desirable situations. We may tend to look at the situation and wonder where the promises of God are that He has for us. They seem to be hidden from us. And, we may face times that seem dark and obscure. But, we cannot always trust what we feel, see or hear. The difference lies in WHO we are listening to. You can hear something and not be really listening. But when you really stop and listen to what God is saying, it can make all the difference in the world. And, When we put our trust in the Word of God, those treasures will be revealed to us at just the right precise moment.
2 Corinthians 4:7, "But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God and not of us." When we listen to and trust the Word of God, we have a treasure that is hidden deep in our hearts. I like how the New Living Translation puts it, "But this precious treasure -- this light and power that now shine within us -- is held in perishable containers, that is, in our weak bodies. So everyone can see that our glorious power is from God and is not our own."
I just love how the Word of God can speak to us in so many ways. I am thankful that during the dark, obscure times that even though I may not see them, the treasures are hidden there for me to be revealed at just the right time. And, even though the situation may not feel desirable that the treasures are still there to brighten my way. And, even though I may not be hearing the sounds that point to victory, I can stop and listen to Him and He will point me in the right direction so that I can proceed forward onto victory. You know, the packages I am handed in life may not always look the prettiest. But, I know that my life is in HIS hands and that He has a plan for me. So, whatever is inside the packages will be something that I can treasure and praise Him for. ♥
