Today is Memorial day. A day that has so often become know for its picnics, Barbecues, and a day off from work. But, it is more than that. Here's a mini History lesson: "Memorial Day is a federal holiday observed annually in the United States on the last Monday of May. Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Formerly known as Decoration Day, it originated after the American Civil War to commemorate the Union soldiers who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century Memorial Day had been extended to honor all Americans who have died in all wars."
On a side note, I am known for changing some of the decor in my house to fit the occasion. So, when I saw this table top decor at Celebrating Homes at a good price, I bought it with Memorial Day, July 4th & Veteran's Day in mind. I think it fits quite well. Plus, it is a reminder to take time to be thankful for those who gave their all so that I can have the freedoms that I enjoy daily. I am looking forward to enjoying some of that freedom. We are going to have some friends over and we are going to have fajitas, homemade Mexican rice, homemade salsa.
Thank you, Lord, for another day to enjoy freedom, life & liberty. ♥
