When I read this quote earlier today, at first I thought, “who on earth would want to embrace chaos?” So, I thought I’d get out the old Merriam-Webster dictionary and look up some words.
Chaos is “the inherent unpredictability in the behavior of a complex natural system (as the atmosphere, boiling water, or the beating heart); or a state in which everything is out of order.” In other words, gladly accept the unpredictable things that come your way. Still sounds kind of crazy doesn’t it…
Why do this? because, that way life will astonish you. To astonish means “to make a strong impression on with something unexpected; to strike with sudden and usually great wonder or surprise.” Things are going to come our way in life that will leave strong impressions. But to be struck with great wonder and surprise may seem far fetched.
But, think about it. Ecclesiastes 3 states that everything happen for a reason. We may not always understand the whys. But, like it says in Jeremiah 29:11, God has a plan for us that will bring us hope and something to look forward to…spending an eternity with Him. So, when you look at it from that prospective, we can embrace the chaos that comes our way. Because, everything that comes our way comes to us for a reason. It is all a part of God’s plan to help us to grow and mold us into the vessel He wants us to be.
If we try to handle things our way, we come up frustrated and down. And, we will not be a useful vessel. But, when we allow God to work in us and through us, we become a vessel that can be filled up with His spirit and power. And, once we are filled, we can be poured out to others…thus making a difference in the lives around us. ♥
