Ephesians 6:18, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people." (Today's NIV)
Every one of us are called for purpose.
1 Corinthians 12:27-31 (MSG), "You are Christ's body - that's who you are! You must never forget this. Only as you accept your part of that body does your "part" mean anything. You're familiar with some of the parts that God has formed in his church, which is his "body": apostles prophets teachers miracle workers healers helpers organizers those who pray in tongues. But it's obvious by now, isn't it, that Christ's church is a complete Body and not a gigantic, unidimensional Part? It's not all Apostle, not all Prophet, not all Miracle Worker, not all Healer, not all Prayer in Tongues, not all Interpreter of Tongues. And yet some of you keep competing for so-called "important" parts. But now I want to lay out a far better way for you."
Together we work together as one body for Him. But, not every one is called to be a teacher or a preacher or a prophet and so on. But, there IS something that we are all called to do...pray in the spirit.
Praying in the Spirit is not your simple "now I lay me down to sleep prayer". It is prayer that is packed with the power of the Holy Ghost. And, we should pray for any occasion and any request. And, be alert and watchful; always ready to pray. And, to make a habit of praying for God's people.
Lord, help us to do what you have called us to do. Teach us to be watchful and alert in the Spirit. And, surround us with your Spirit and let our prayers be powerful and effective.
