Living Separated...

There is an old hymn says, "This world is not my home I'm just passing through. My treasures are laid up somewhere beyond the blue. The angels beckon me, through heaven's open door. And, I can't feel at home in this world anymore. O Lord you know I have no friend like you. if Heaven's not my home then Lord what will I do? The angels beckon me from Heaven's open door. And I can't feel at home in this world anymore. Just up in Glory Land we'll live eternally. The Saints on every hand are shouting victory. Their song of sweetest praise drifts back from Heaven's shore. And I can't feel at home in this world anymore."

Romans 12:2 (KJV) says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." We should not let this world shape who we are. But, allow God to transform our minds so that when others look at us they recognize that we are genuine. Our lives lives should be fruitful in good, acceptable and complete in Him and in line with the will of God. If you think about it, as Christians, we have a different value system because we serve a different God and have different priorities than this world has.

Leviticus 20:7 (MSG) says, "Set yourselves apart for a holy life. Live a holy life, because I am God, your God." And then 2 Corinthians 6:17-18 (KJV) says, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate , saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." These verses tell us that we need to be separate from the world...living a life that is holy and acceptable to God. The word "world" in these verses refer the ungodly influences in the world and to the sin in this world. There is a says that says, "Sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay." Take Moses for example, after being raised the son of Pharaoh's daughter, he chose to walk away from the plush life of the Egyptians and live a life that God was calling Him to life right along side the people of God. (Hebrew 11:24-25) Yes they had to go through some tough times and some persecution along the way. But, those that followed God's plan made it to the promised land. So it is with us. If we follow the plan God has for us, we will make it to a place He has prepared for them that love Him.

We are not in this world to "make it by the skin of our teeth". We are to live for God wholeheartedly so that we can make it to heaven, but we are here to make a difference so that we can take someone with us. So, it is essential that we live a life that is separate from the world and that is holy and acceptable to God. The world needs to see that there is something out there that lasts not just for a season but for eternity. There is a old hymn that says, "I have found the pleasure I once craved, It is joy and peace within; What a wondrous blessing, I am saved from the awful gulf of sin. It is joy unspeakable and full of glory,Full of glory, full of glory; It is joy unspeakable and full of glory, Oh, the half has never yet been told."
