I read this quote on my daily calendar this morning..."Do more than exist...Live! Do more than touch...Feel! Do more than look...See! Do more than hear...Listen! Do more than talk...Say something!"
We can go from day to day just existing. Or, we can truly live:
Romans 8:13 (NIV) says, "For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live."
Romans 1:17 (NIV) says, "For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
Hebrews 10:38 (NIV) says, "But my righteous one will live by faith. And if he shrinks back, I will not be pleased with him."
To touch something, you come into contact with it. But, when you feel something, it can involve all your senses. So it is with God. We can just reach out and touch Him...or we can allow Him to totally engulf us in His presence...surrounding us and dwelling in us.:
Psalm 16:11 (NIV) says, "Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore."
John 14:17 (NIV) says, "The Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you."
We can just look or take a glance...or we can really see. When we see something, we behold, observe, discern and experience it:
Psalm 11:7 (NIV) says, "For the LORD is righteous, he loves justice; upright men will see his face."
Psalm 27:13 (NIV) says, "I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living."
Psalm 34:8 (NIV) says, "Taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him."
As we go from day to day we hear lots of things. We hear cars driving past our homes, we hear the birds singing and we hear the buzz of voices as the converse. But, how often to we stop and take the time to listen? When we listen we are stopping and paying attention.:
Proverbs 8:6 (NIV) says, "Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right."
Listen to His word. He has very valuable things to tell us. Things that will help us and things that are right for us.
When we talk, we should say something. There is a difference. When we talk, we engage in a casual conversation. But when we talk and say something, there is feeling behind those words. We are expressing our thoughts and feelings into words.:
Psalm 35:28 (KJV) says, "And my tongue shall speak of thy righteousness and of thy praise all the day long."
Psalm 49:3 (KJV) says, "My mouth shall speak of wisdom; and the meditation of my heart shall be of understanding."
Psalm 119:46 (KJV) says, "I will speak of thy testimonies also before kings, and will not be ashamed."
Psalm 119:172 (KJV) says, "My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness."
Psalm 145:5 (KJV) says, "I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works."
