The Word Of God...It Is Not a Buffet.

The Word of God is not a buffet where we can choose to live by "this" principle and not by "that" one. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 (MSG) says, "Every part of Scripture is God-breathed and useful one way or another - showing us truth, exposing our rebellion, correcting our mistakes, training us to live God's way. Through the Word we are put together and shaped up for the tasks God has for us."

I have noticed more and more that there are some who pick and choose what they want from the Word of God.  Sometimes they add their own version here and there to fit their desires.   It is really quite disheartening to think that people feel the need to change or delete the principles and guidelines that He has for us.  They are there to show us the truth.  Yes, sometimes it  will open our eyes and allow us to see where we may be wrong...but it is for our own good.  Yes, there are times that correction is in order...and that can hurt our "pride".  But all this is done to train us to live the way He has chosen for us.  His Word is there to shape us and put our lives together in such a way that we can be prepared for the tasks ahead.

Jesus, my prayer today is that you helps me to live my life in such a way that I can be a good example of your glory, grace & mercy.  I know that I am not perfect.  I have my flaws...probably more than I care to admit.  But, I am a work in progress.  You are still working on me to make me what I ought to be.  And, I pray that I never look at your Word and try to change it to fit what I think it should say.  Or treat it like a buffet picking and choosing what I want.  Help me to accept its truths, reproof, correction and instruction at all times.  Help me to Hide it in my heart.  Jesus...make me more like you!
