In Ephesians 2:10 (NIV) it says, “For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
In working with diamonds, workmanship refers to the overall finish of the diamond, including the polish on the facets, the symmetry of facets with respect to each other, and the shape of the culet. The true measure of the value of a diamond lies within the workmanship.
I have heard so many times (including from myself)…”What talents do I have?” I think we all have talents of some sort. Let’s face it, we are the workmanship of God Almighty. He doesn’t make mistakes. We were created to do good works. God has prepared in advance a work for each of us to do. We are like a “diamonds in the rough”. A diamond in the rough is “someone that has hidden exceptional characteristics and/or future potential, but currently lacks the final touches that would make them truly stand out from the crowd. The phrase is metaphorical and relates to the fact that naturally occurring diamonds are quite ordinary at first glance, and that their true beauty as jewels is only realized through the cutting and polishing process.
Are you feeling like you lack talent? Or you aren’t sure where God wants you to be used? Maybe its time to place your life in HIS hands once more and allow Him to finish the work He has started. And when you are His completed workmanship, you will see the potential you have to be used for His glory!
