Today, I thought of Psalm 127:3, "children are a heritage of the Lord, and the fruit of the womb is His reward". Children are a gift from God. So, yesterday as I went about my normal day to day duties of chasing my two little gifts who were in high-speed, I begin to be reminded once more of how blessed I am. I heard everything from "Mommy please tickle me" to "Mommy I fell and scraped my knee". Oh, and don't forget "Mommy he/she won't leave me alone".
In the morning there was the excitement of my Home Interiors order arriving. I am not which they like better...helping me unpack the merchandise or getting the giant bubble wrap the use to pack the boxes. They proceeded to lay out the bubble wrap and jump on it. Yes, it may be a little loud and nerve racking, but it is fun to watch them and to hear them laughing.
In the afternoon, I was laying of the couch resting a little bit when all of a sudden there a was a little foot thrust in front of my face. Beyond the foot, I heard a little voice say, "Mommy, do this little piggy". My children love to laugh. They are also very ticklish. So I as I started out..."This little piggy went the market"...my son was already laughing like crazy. Of course, then my daughter presented her feet to me for the same routine. Hearing my children laugh brings such joy to my heart. After the tickling marathon, we had story time. We all cuddled together on the couch and read several stories.
Later on, they were playing outside while my husband and father-in-law replaced the brakes on the Ford F150. My daughter was walking from the back patio to the driveway. There is a little bit of a step down from the patio and she somehow misjudged her footing and ended up on her knee. Crying and limping (she is my drama child) she came inside for a bandaid. So, I set her up on the counter in the bathroom and preceded to "doctor" her up. I stopped and looked at her and jokingly told her that she just fell so she could wear her new Hello Kitty bandaids. That made her smile and giggle. Before long she was back outside and squealing, "Mommy it doesn't hurt any more!"
But by evening, my children were tiring of one another and fussing again. I know that this is "normal" for siblings. But I guess it is something that I have to get used to...I was the only child until I was almost 20 so I didn't have any siblings to fuss with. But I am thankful that even though they have their "moments" they are still pretty close. Now tomorrow they may wake up and give each other a good morning hug.
So as this day comes to a close, I guess my thoughts would be...Thank you Lord for my giggling, ticklish, active and fussing little gifts. I am truly blessed!
