Pruning, growth & being fruitful.

Matthew 7:18, 20 KJV
"A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.  Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them."
Everyone knows what fruit is... a product of plant growth that is useful to humans and animals.  And, most people know what the fruit of the Spirit are... love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness,  and temperance."  But, good fruit in the life of a Child of God goes beyond just the nine fruit listed above.  We must strive to be full of fruit in every aspect of our lives and as often as humanly possible.  We aren't perfect.  We'll have days that require "adjustments" in our attitudes.
We are "marked" by our fruits.  Others will know how genuine we truly are by watching us.  Sometimes, our tree may need pruning.  But, pruning spurs new growth.  But, for our fruit to be useful to us and others we must do what is necessary to keep growing in Him.
