We have a couple of rainy days off and on here lately. Like on Sunday, it was crashing, thundering and lightning so much that is scared the kids half out of their wits! But, I have a little thing I tell the kids that my Grandpa used to tell me. You know when you hear the thunder roll and then there is a loud crash at the end? Well, that is just the angels. You see, they are bowling up there in Heaven and one of them just bowled a strike.
Rain storms can be frightening at times. Especially when the threats of tornadoes are involved. But after every storm, a rainbow appears in the sky. The beautiful colors blend together to form an arch of beauty. As I look at a rainbow, it just reminds me that God’s promises are everlasting. He promised Noah that He would never flood the earth again with water…as a reminder He placed the rainbow in the sky after every rain storm. The Word of God is full of promises…and EVERY single one of them is just as everlasting as the rainbow. And, the effects those promises have a our lives makes us a beautiful Masterpiece just as the rainbow is one of His beautiful Masterpieces.
There may be times we may not seem to see the rainbow in the sky after a rain…but it is there somewhere. Just as life can cloud our “vision” so that we can not see the promises of God. But, if we allow Him to illuminate our circumstances, that spectrum of light will glisten on the rainbow of promises He has for our lives.
I am thankful for the many promises of God that are within the pages of the Word of God…
2 Peter 1:3-4 “According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
