Centripetal & Centrifugal Force

I have watched my kids play with a top.  They are always so fascinated to watch it spin round and round.  And, as I watch the top spin it amazes me how that top stays upright and continues to spin.  I read that it take both centripetal and centrifugal force to keep a top spinning.  Centripetal Force is the force that is necessary to keep an object moving in a curved path and that is directed inward toward the center of rotation. Centrifugal Force is the apparent force that is felt by an object moving in a curved path that acts outwardly away from the center of rotation.  These two forces...one directed inward the other directed outward...keeps the top spinning.

In Psalm 107:27-30 (The Message Translation) it says, "You were spun like a top, you reeled like a drunk, you didn't know which end was up.  Then you called out to God in your desperate condition; he got you out in the nick of time.  He quieted the wind down to a whisper, put a muzzle on all the big waves. And you were so glad when the storm died down, and he led you safely back to harbor."  In our lives sometimes things come our way that seems to spin us round and round.  It is those inward and outward stresses and frustrations that keep us in that "spin cycle".  Times like those can leave us feeling like everything is reeling and spinning out of control.  But there is a solution...there is someone who can stop the spinning top of our lives.

Jesus can stop the spinning...He can give us the peace that passes all understanding...leading us safely back to where you need to be.  There is a verse that I think of often during the times when things seems to be spinning, threatening to distract me from my goal.  Isaiah 65:24 says, "And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear."  During those times when stress and frustration comes at us causing our thoughts and heart to spin...remember that He knows exactly where we are.  We can just call out to Him.  And, while we are yet speaking, He WILL hear.  And before we even called out to Him, He already had the answer...He was just waiting to hear His children call out to Him.

What a GREAT & MIGHTY God He is.  There is truly no one like Him.  And, to think that we are SO important to Him that as it says in Matthew 10:31, we are more valuable than many sparrows.  If He knows when one sparrows falls, then surely he knows when we are spinning like a top.  He knows when we need Him and He is ALWAYS right there.  Lemmie Battles sings a song that would fit in good right here...

When you get in trouble
Just call on Jesus
He'll be right there
To help you make it through

Whenever you call Him
He's never too busy
He'll be right there
To help you make it through

He'll be right there
He'll be right there
He'll be right there
He will be right there
To help you make it through

Through the storm and rain
Through sickness and pain
Through the high and the low
He'll be with you whenever you go
He'll be right there
