A Square Person In A Round World...

This thought came to me this morning when I heard a song titled "Hip To Be Square" by Huey Lewis & The News.  Yes, I know, that is SO totally 80's...but it spurred some thoughts.

The Merriam-Webster defines square as "a person who is conventional or conservative in taste or way of life".  Being conventional is being traditional; (based on customs usually handed down from a previous generation) or formal (following or agreeing with established form, custom, or rules).  A conservative is someone who can be considered to be old-fashioned and tending to favor established ideas.  If you think about it, these definitions above describe the true and committed Christians that are in the world.  How many times have we heard or been told that our values are too old-fashioned for the world today.  They say, "We live in a different time and age today".

No matter what others may say...I still stand on the Word of God.  Call me old-fashioned...or that I am out of touch with reality...or that I need to come back to the here and now of culture.  But, the Word of God still holds more value in my heart than the value system of this world.  And, as long as I have breathe in my lungs, it will be the map I use to travel through this journey called life.

So, call me the square person in this ol' round world...that is fine.  I am have the happiness and peace in my life knowing that He watches over me and that He helps at  anytime in any situation...all I have to do is call out His name, JESUS.  And, in HIS eyes it is totally hip and very fashionable to be square.
