1 Corinthians 13:12 says, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known". The Message translations says it this way..."We don't yet see things clearly. We're squinting in a fog, peering through a mist. But it won't be long before the weather clears and the sun shines bright! We'll see it all then, see it all as clearly as God sees us, knowing him directly just as he knows us!"
Fog is basically a cloud at ground level. When the weather is foggy, everything seems dim, dark and indistinct. Have you ever had a day when it seems a cloud of fog seems to settle over you? Everything around you seems dim, dark and so indistinct? As long as we live in this world, we will have days that seem to be filled with fog. We can look to Jesus during those times and feel a peace knowing that He IS in control. But I am reminded of a song that says..."It won't be long and we'll sing a brand new song. Glory, glory to the Lamb. Just any day now, it won't be long...". One day the clouds will part and will see the light shining through. The light of His face! It is then that we will clearly see Him. We will see Him as He sees us...we will know Him directly. The trumpet will sound and we will have immediate physical contact with Him! We will literally be able to walk with Him, talk with Him and feel His embrace.
Oh what a peace that floods over me when I think about it! This life here is only temporal. There is coming a day when all the dimness, darkness and indistinctness will fade away in the light of His face! It is reassuring scriptures like this that keep me going from day to day. Thank you Jesus that it won't be long and the fog of this ol' world will be clearing!
