I thought of a chorus this morning that I have not heard sung in a long, long time. "Faith, faith, faith. Just a little bit of faith. Faith, faith faith. Just a little bit of faith. You don't need a whole lot, just use what you've got. Faith, faith, faith. Just a little bit of faith".
In Matthew 17:20 Jesus says, "If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you". Have you ever held a grain of mustard seed in your hand? It is tiny. But that tiny seed grows into a big tree with roots that grow deep into the soil. Developing faith can help you to grow in God and maintain deep roots in truth. If just a little bit of faith can move mountains, just think what great faith can do!
Hebrews 11:1 says that "faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. A good example of this faith is in Matthew 8. The Roman Centurion had a servant that was sick of palsy. Not feeling worthy enough for Jesus to come to his home, he said that if Jesus would just speak the word, his servant would be healed. He trusted and believed that Jesus was capable of healing even without being physically present to the one that was sick. In Matthew 8:10, Jesus said that this Centurion had great faith. He had allowed his little bit of faith grow into great faith.
But once you have faith in your heart it does not end there. That is just the beginning. In 2 Peter 1 it says, to "add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ." Allowing your faith to be a building block in your life can lead you to live a abundantly fruitful life.
