Jehovah-Jireh - My Provider

Genesis 22:14 says, “And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-Jireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.”

I am sure you have heard or read the story. God told Abraham to sacrifice his only son unto him. As they made the trip up to the top of the mount, Isaac asked where the sacrifice was. Abraham’s response was “God will provide”. Abraham tie his only son to the altar and just as he was about to slay his son the Angel of the Lord stopped him. As Abraham looked over into a nearby thicket he saw what he believed all along. God provided a to sacrifice. Because of his faithfulness and trust in God, God provided. Abraham named the place Jehovah Jireh. Which is translated as Jehovah will see or provide.

This verse has been regarded as the equivalent to the saying, "Man's extremity is God's opportunity." Sometimes we are faced with trials and tribulations that seem so extreme to us. God sees the critical needs in our lives as an opportunity to show us who He really is. A need is a lack of something requisite, desirable, or useful. Opportunity is a good chance for advancement or progress. When we have a need, God provides. The result is that our faith in Him is advance to a new level.

In Philippians 4:19, it says, “But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus”. God will abundantly and liberally supply ALL your needs according to the abundance of his magnificence. In other words, according to great quantity of his great deeds shall He supply.

Just how great are his deeds? Mark 10:27 says, “With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God ALL things are possible.” No matter how little or how big the need or desire may be, He shall supply if we are faithful. When you are faithful, you are full of faith. When we are full of faith, we are conscious (or showing realization, perception, or knowledge) of who God is.

This same God who, parted the Red Sea, provided a ram in the thicket, delivered David, Daniel and countless others. Is the same God with us today. Our faith should be boosted by the fact that this GREAT God chose to dwell in our hearts. He shows us his magnificence by supplying ALL our needs.
