This coming Wednesday is my son's birthday. As he says, he will be "4 + 1". Yesterday afternoon we had a birthday party for him with family. He chose a Dallas Cowboys football theme. We decorated with blue and white streamers and balloons and with a Dallas Cowboys helium balloon Kalynn had picked out. Jack made a red velvet cake and decorated it. When Jackson woke up bright and early yesterday morning, he ran into the kitchen and saw all the decorations and was SO excited. But he was not satisfied until he found the cake. Once he saw the cake, he was totally geared up for his party. But, before we had the party, we had church/Sunday school. So, I had to remind him that even though he was so excited about his party, he had to settle down during Sunday school and Power Hour. Once we arrived back home after church he got dressed in his Cowboys t-shirt and jeans and ran outside to play. After all was said and done, he told me that he had a really fun party.
As I look over my life, I see many times God has blessed me and my family. But, out of them all I would have to say that the biggest blessings in my life are my husband and children. When I found out I was pregnant in 2002, I prayed for a boy. I already had a beautiful little girl and I wanted a boy. I had prayed for a boy that would be like his Daddy. When we found out we were having a boy we decided on the middle name Jeriah. It is Hebrew and means "Jehovah has seen". God answered my prayer and gave us the blessing of a little boy. And he is just like his Daddy in many ways. He is a constant reminder to me that God does answer prayers...even the ones that may seem silly to some.
I am so thankful for my husband and my children. But being it is his birthday this week, I want to take time to say how thankful I am for a blessing named Jackson - an answer to prayer. And, he IS truly 100% (sometimes 120%) B-O-Y.
